Because of its singularity, Wikipedia occupies a special place on the Web. As a common good of knowledge, the free encyclopaedia is now recognized as an object of research of international level, through several colloquiums and numerous publications dedicated to it, as well as to other related projects such as Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, Wikibooks , etc …
More broadly, wikis are commonly used in learning context or in collaborative projects.
After a previous conference, in 2015, focusing on Wikipedia as an object of scientific research (whose results are presented in the publication Wikipédia, objet scientifique non identifié), this new call for papers considers Wikipedia as a tool for mediation and knowledge transfer and opens up a broader perspective on wikis and collaborative learning environments. Although many empirical experiments have been conducted in this field, an organic reflection on the inclusion of Wikipedia, or of wikis in general, in pedagogical approaches or construction of knowledge is still absent.
Three areas of research are envisaged:
- Construction and transmission of knowledge
- Dynamics of co-construction of a digital common
- New forms of collaboration and participation
- Controversies around the role of Wikipedia, what place for Wikipedia in the construction of scientific knowledge?
- Mediation and representation of knowledge
- Socio-linguistic and socio-cultural factors
- Representations, reception and reuse of the contents of Wikipedia
- Uses in a learning environment (documentation centres, libraries)
- Educational innovation tool
- Wikipedia as a medium of transmission of knowledge
- Uses of Wikipedia as a learning tool
- Theoretical approaches to pedagogy in a collaborative environment
This call for papers is part of an interdisciplinary research, the proposals can come from researchers and teachers who work in the field of human and social sciences (and in particular information and communication sciences), but also from hard sciences scholars interested in issues related to mediation and transmission of knowledge.
The call is open to theoretical approaches that can enrich the understanding of Wikipedia as well as to case studies and works in progress.
As a final outcome, the publication of a volume is envisaged within the Nanterre university presses following and completing the previous volume of 2015.

Deadline for submission of proposals: March 30, 2019
Date of notification of acceptance: 30 April 2019
Format
Communication proposals can concern ongoing works, theoretical reflections or comparative analyses.
They must be in two pages maximum and include a brief presentation of the context, of the study object, of the methodology and a bibliography.
The author can insert a brief biography about him in the body of the email, with the proposal as an attachment, in .doc or .pdf format.
French and English are accepted.
The presentations during the day will not exceed 20 minutes, in order to leave a large part of the time for exchanges between participants.

Future perspectives
As part of the ANR Collabora project and in partnership with Nanterre university presses, the publication of a collective work is planned for the beginning of 2020. The scientific committee will make a selection among the presented communication in order to solicit a longer paper.
